College Goal Sunday : Free Financial Aid Workshop

Do you have a child who is college bound? Are you yourself looking to go back to school? You will definitely be interested in taking advantage of this workshop!

I received an email from Scott Robertson, Co-Site Coordinator for MCTC. As a mother with a daughter looking to attend Marshall in the fall I am more than happy to spread the word.

Email:

We are currently working with a new initiative in the state of West Virginia known as “College Goal Sunday”. College Goal Sunday is a nation-wide initiative, funded by the Lumina Foundation, which seeks to provide information about and access to Federal Financial Aid to students on underserved and underrepresented populations. The event will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 1pm – 5pm in the basement of the MCTC building (3rd Ave. and 18th St.). During College Goal Sunday, students will receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid paperwork. If you or your child have thought about attending some form of post-secondary education in the coming year, you should attend College Goal Sunday. You or your child may qualify for FREE monies to go to college during the coming school year. Snacks will be provided and Doors Prizes will be given away. If you have any questions regarding how you can help, please do not hesitate to ask.

Programs like these are so important, especially in our region! If you know anyone who can benefit from this workshop please feel free to post on any and all of your own social networking sites.

Scott, thanks for writing. I look forward to attending and hope the workshop is a success!
